Should i get morrowind or oblivion
There's also the thing to consider, Morrowind's graphics are horrible. That entirely kills immersion, if you want that in your game. Oblivion was one of the pilot titles for the Xbox and the PlayStation 3, so they're tolerable while vanilla and look rather current when modified.
Even after several fan-made graphical overhauls, Morrowind still looks bad in comparison to the newer titles running on a much improved engine. Not that you can blame it so much, being as old as that game is, but it still looks like garbage. Last edited by Dr. Originally posted by Dr. Dro :. Originally posted by Deadbubble :. Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls, and it will probably always be my favorite Elder Scrolls. I don't have any nostalgia for Morrowind since I played it so late, but I still have tons of fun with it.
Lots of old games are fun. The RNG boils down to making it nearly impossible to hit anything for the first few hours then being able to kill everything with ease forever afterwards. It's still really to kill whatever crosses your path or pick whatever lock. It's a little less silly than Oblivion's system where a level 1 player character is far more powerful than a level 40 player character. Regardless, TES is more about questing and exploring than fighting mobs and bosses.
Nearly any other game has more interesting combat. Morrowind's magic system is a lot more fun than any other Elder Scrolls game, with levitation spells and slowfall potions.
There's also a lot more guilds, unique dungeons, hidden high-tier treasure, and from my feeling more quests to be found, even in the middle of nowhere. What's not fun? Elder Scrolls Explore. Elder Scrolls Online. Another big difference in Morrowind is that creatures aren't leveled to your character like they are in Oblivion.
The same creatures spawn in the same places, regardless of your level. Every enemy is a challenge until your character gets stronger and you find better items. It's all about who is stronger and better trained in Morrowind.
If you run into something you can't handle, you can either come back when you are stronger Last edited by JasperTheG. Originally posted by JasperTheG. Jean-pierre duvall View Profile View Posts.
Not giving away too much of the game I can just say. I played Oblivion for about a week before getting tired of it, Skyrim for about 2 months and Morrowind for about 3 years. Morrowind isn't a dungeon crawler like Skyrim or Oblivion. Sure there are Dungeons, caves and tombs to explore but it's more about exploring the world.
And progressing your skills is something you have to learn how to manage. The good people over at Bethesda used Oblivion to practice for Skyrim. You'll want both in the end. Get both, contrary to what a lot of people say here, i feel like if you liked skyrim then Oblivion will be MUCH easier to get into, and i personally enjoyed the slightly more generic setting of oblivion a lot, and the dlc it comes with is great.
Morrowind is a bit dated, but get both still. Morrowind, to me, has the greatest story to gameplay ratio that few games pull off to perfection.
Daggerfall is fun in a much different way than Morrowind. Morrowind has replay value, quite a bit actually, but it only scratches the surface of what Daggerfall offers. Oblivion is much more similar to traditional Elder Scrolls games rather than the newer modern RPG style that Skyrim adopted. Skyrim can be fairly easy unless mods are added to make the difficulty levels more intense.
Morrowind gives players unlimited freedom to explore its world, without having to unlock anything through leveling up. Its magic spell customization is also more in-depth and open-ended than in later games. How old is Serana and what era was she born in? We all know that Serana is a nord. Nords have an average lifespan of 80 to years without magic.
