Ratchet was the Autobot's medical officer and one of the series longest reccuring Autobots who partook in all the major conflicts until killed by Lockdown in Age of Extinction. Like most Autobots after the final battle on Cybertron Ratchet left the planet with Optimus Prime to search for the AllSpark, visiting countless worlds and battling Decepticons across the cosmos.

However as hope seemed to be lost the Autobots discovered that the AllSpark was on a planet called Earth. In after receving Bumblebee's alert confirming the AllSpark is on Earth and the key to it's location with a human boy named Sam Witwicky , Ratchet with Optimus Prime , Ironhide and Jazz decended to Earth to make contact.

Ratchet crashed in the middle of downtown and assumed an ambulance vehicle mode before meeting up with the Autobots and being introduced to Sam and Mikeala Banes. When Ratchet was introduced to the kids he took note of Sam's pheremone level which he concluded a high desire to mate with Mikeala, much to their discomfort.

On a more serious note after Optimus tells the story of the war and Megatron to the kids Ratchet informed the humans that should Megatron get the AllSpark first he will re-create an army from human technology and eiradicate mankind. The other Autobots went to Sam's house where they were very unfamilar with their surroundings and Ratchet caused trouble by walking into powerlines, but noted that it was fun. He later used his light to help Sam in his room as the powerlines caused a power cut and when hiding from Sam's parents backed up Ironhide's desire to terminate them for their iritance.

When Sector 7 arrived and kidnapped the kids Ratchet and the others followed to intercept them but all found themselves running from more trucks. However Bumblebee allowed himself to be captured which diverted them away and allowed Optimus to find the glasses. The Autobots then went to an observatory to find the AllSpark's location but most began having second thoughts about protecting humanity for their savageness. Optimus however had faith still so much that he was willing to sacrifice himself to destory the AllSpark if needed which Rathcet highly ill-advised.

Ratchet part-took by attacking Brawl by cutting off his arm and shooting him multiple times causing temporary stasis lock, and later protected Sam as he took the AllSpark to saftey but was attacked along with Ironhide and wounded by Starscream. After the battle was over with Megatron's death Ratchet stood victorious with his fellow Autobots, minus Jazz who had been killed, and later rested in vehicle mode on a hill with his comrades as Optimus sent a message requesting reinforcements.

Ratchet was seen at the NEST base returning from an unspecified mission. Ratchet and the others arrived to backup Optimus but were too late as Megatron, resurrected, had killed him, and Ratchet covered Sam's escape as he Bumblebee and the twins went into hiding. When the other Autobots returned to NEST Director Galloway had multiple armed trucks aimed at them as he stated that he was taking over but Ratchet noted that he was "terribly misinformed".

Prelude: Megatron Ratchet found himself stuck in the middle of a genocidal alien war that uncomfortably mirrored Cybertron's own. Ignoring it at first, Ratchet scanned a local tank to blend in and inconspicuously set up a homing beacon in the hope of getting rescued. Finding himself with no purpose in the meantime and seeing the A'ovan faction getting slaughtered, Ratchet challenged and defeated Durguth , the local tyrant, thereby becoming the new ruler of the Thraal faction.

He then ordered a ceasefire and oversaw an interim alliance, effectively bringing peace to the planet single-handed. Lost In Space Part 1: Ratchet. Ironhide eventually detected the beacon, so Ratchet switched back to his green form, and the two began searching for Jazz when he didn't show. After uncovering that Soundwave was secretly working in conjunction with the Tanto Gang in Central Colombia, Ratchet and Optimus acted as Major Lennox's back-up, who infiltrated the organization. Soundwave revealed himself following the Tanto Gang uncovering the lost city of El Dorado , prompting Ratchet and Optimus to intervene.

Ratchet helped Lennox neutralize the Tanto Gang, detonating their weapons before they could reach them, while Optimus took care of the Decepticon.

But then Mr. Kubikiri , leader of the gang, detonated a Zipa Warhead to cover his escape. Gold And Blood. Ratchet and Ironhide were assigned to public relations at an anti- Cybertronian rally outside the Tech Museum of Innovation , something neither of them were particularly enthusiastic about.

Ratchet tried to reassure Marcus Castor , the head of the protesters, that the Autobots were friendly, but failed to be convincing. After Ironhide "helped", the museum was attacked by Starscream and Barricade. Ratchet was shot in the arm by Starscream, and he hung back to try and protect the humans as much as possible. Unfortunately Starscream got the idea to throw a tanker truck at them.

Ratchet called to the humans get behind him, but Ironhide knocked the tanker out of the way, and Optimus Prime's arrival saw the Decepticons off. Ratchet believed in approaching matters diplomatically and cordially, as when Ironhide presented Barricade with his Christmas present for the Decepticon—which was actually a trick for Ironhide to punch Barricade.

When Bumblebee , who'd gone to try and scout out the Ghost 1 , lost communications with the Ark , Ratchet informed Optimus. Prime left to find the Autobot scout, leaving the others with orders to abandon them should the Decepticons attack again, something Ratchet wasn't keen on doing.

As it happened, the Decepticons did attack again, but not before Ratchet had made some improvements to the defense systems on the Ark , which would help keep them out.

He again provided support fire for Ironhide and Jazz , but when Starscream returned to reinforce the Decepticons, the pair had to retreat to the Ark. Though Jazz said they should leave, Ratchet was determined to stay until Optimus and Bumblebee returned. The two missing Autobots showed up before it turned into an issue, and Prime called the trio out of the Ark to engage the Decepticons in battle. Ratchet and Bumblebee fought Barricade , though the Decepticon was almost too much for them to handle.

When the Autobots realised that Scorponok had managed to sneak on board the Ark , Ratchet was forced to return to the ship. He forcibly ejected Scoponok and began laying into the small Decepticon, leading an already badly damaged Blackout to come to his partner's aid.

The battle ended with an act of self-sacrifice from the Ghost 1 crew, which greatly impressed the Autobots. Ghosts of Yesterday. On their way back to Diego Garcia , Ratchet watched Ironhide scare the crap out of a pirate who was trying to attack their ship.

Shortly after; Optimus was swept over the falls; when Beachbreak lowered his cable, Ratchet transmitted to Prime to grab it and then helped haul him up. Shortly afterwards, the team traveled to a nearby dam on the Zambezi, just as the Decepticons began their attack. Payload took up position down the gorge and began to fire on the dam. Ratchet climbed up onto the structure and did his best to patch the holes, even as he took fire from the Decepticon.

Eventually, he was saved when William Lennox opened the emergency floodgates, releasing a torrent of water that sent Payload crashing away. It took him a good deal of time to recover, so he missed out on the missions to Peru and Australia. But he was ready to join the team for the trip to Rome, and helped in the battle against Swindle , Dead End , and Starscream.

The Veiled Threat. Ratchet was at Edwards Air Force Base with Bumblebee when they received word that two Cybertronians in transition forms had landed near Hurley's Crossing.

The pair went there by helicopter and encountered Reverb , who claimed to be a Decepticon defector hunting down another Decepticon who was after the technology at Hawthorne Army Depot. Ratchet, hoping Reverb's story of a movement of Decepticons was true, opted to trust him, thought he still had Reverb restrained.

They took Reverb to the army depot where Kevin Bowman let the two Autobots know that Gears was on their side and in reality trying to protect an ancient weapons cache. Reverb had already obtained a number of the weapons from the cache, including a personal force field generator, and was on the verge of running Ratchet through when Optimus and Ironhide arrived. Though down, Ratchet still managed to save Ironhide's life by tripping Reverb at a crucial moment, and he survived to see the end of the battle.

Switching Gears. They were initially unable to find the Decepticons, who appeared to be hiding. Eventually the Decepticons made themselves obvious, and Ratchet killed the first with his saw, before helping Optimus dispatch the others. Battle Mountain. Porter intended to wipe out the Decepticons, incoming meteoroids were detected.

Luckily, Jolt had messed with him long enough to tame him with his stunning electro-whips, allowing them to go in and take him down.

Payload Voyager Electrostatic Jolt. Ratchet and multiple Autobots and Decepticons traversed universes and found themselves on a prehistoric Earth , during the Beast Wars. The Autobots joined the Maximals in fighting the combined Predacon and Decepticon force. Tigatron Chapter Eventually, the Decepticon Megatron joined the battle. Gimlet Chapter In one final attack, the Autobots and Maximals combined their energies into a powerful blast.

Motorarm Chapter. Sam asked Ratchet and Ironhide whether either of them ever thought of defeating The Fallen with water, him always being on fire and all. The two Autobots were stumped over how they had never considered doing so.

Mini Mayhem! When Lockdown went on a rampage in Mission City , Ratchet went to stop him. After Ratchet's EMP blaster malfunctioned, Lockdown beat him up, took the weapon and escaped with it. Cyber Missions 3. Later, he was found by Sideswipe, who took him back to Diego Garcia and patched him up in the Medical Bay. Not soon after, Lockdown attacked the base, and Sideswipe held him off. Lockdown tried to retreat, much to Sideswipe's dismay, but Ratchet informed him that he was headed straight for the Medical Bay.

Lockdown entered Cyber Missions 7. Bumblebee and Ratchet were dispatched to a building in Scramble City by Optimus, who briefed them that Smolder and Chopster were causing trouble.

On reaching the building, the pair encountered Chopster, and then were almost ran down by Smolder. Ratchet used his EMP blaster to disable Chopster, but the Mini-Con was merely stuck in fire axe mode, and still of use to his larger comrade. While Bumblebee attacked the Decepticons, Ratchet worked on getting his EMP blaster recharged, before hitting on boosting its power using his own spark.

The weapon successfully took out Smolder, and the two Autobots cracked jokes over his deactivated body. Cyber Missions 9. Ratchet and Sideswipe were transporting some energon to a secure location when they were attacked by Starscream and Mindwipe.

As Mindwipe assaulted them with his hypnotic powers, Ratchet suggested Sideswipe use his satellite radio as a diversion. The gambit worked, and Ratchet grabbed Mindwipe, slamming the Decepticon into the trailer of energon and using a short jolt to paralyze him.

Ratchet's warning to Sideswipe that Starscream was too powerful came too late, as his fellow Autobot was in grave danger. Ratchet pushed the trailer plus Mindwipe over the nearest cliff, which succeeded in getting Starscream to release Sideswipe.

As the Decepticon grabbed the trailer in mid-air, Ratchet announced that if the Autobots couldn't have the energon, no one could, and blasted the trailer. Starscream survived, and Ratchet suggested to Sideswipe that they find some place safe to hide. Ironhide managed to chase off Mixmaster, but Ratchet was not in fighting shape.

The Autobot weapons expert was forced to engage wave after wave of Decepticon reinforcements while his friend desperately carried out emergency repairs. Once the repairs were done, he gave Ironhide backup and the Decepticons withdrew. Badly weakened by his ordeal, Ratchet urged Ironhide onwards to finish off Mixmaster, assuring him he would be alright.

Later when the Autobots launched an all out assault on the Decepticon base, Ratchet helped evacuate wounded soldiers afterwards. He contacted Optimus a couple of times during his fight with Shockwave. Optimus eventually defeated Shockwave and informed Ratchet he was alright. Three years after Operation: Firestorm, Ratchet accompanied Optimus Prime to Ukraine to investigate a piece of ancient Autobot technology discovered there, but left the fighting to his leader when Shockwave and the Driller attacked the NEST soldiers.

It was revealed that the artifact was an engine part from the long lost Autobot ship, the Ark , and had been retrieved by the Russians during the Space Race.

Ratchet watched as Optimus explained to National Intelligence Director Charlotte Mearing the importance of this discovery, and Ratchet again joined Optimus to the Moon aboard the Xantium to reach the Ark on the moon.

Upon exploration of the wrecked ship's crash vault, the two discovered Sentinel Prime in deep stasis, Ratchet noting that his vitals were running low, and he also bore possession of five pillars. Back on Earth, Ratchet greeted Sam and Carly Spencer with the flashing of his emergency lights in vehicle mode. He was then a witness to Optimus reviving Sentinel with the Matrix of Leadership along with some of the other Autobots, and reassured the former Autobot leader that there was nothing to fear.

However, when Sentinel betrayed the Autobots, executed Ironhide, and brought an army of Decepticons to Earth, the United Nations were forced to exile the Autobots on the Decepticon's demands. Ratchet joined the other Autobots in leaving Earth aboard the Xantium , and was presumably killed as the ship was destroyed by Starscream. However, the group actually hid in a piece of the ship that detached during liftoff.

Ratchet and the Autobots rejoined with Sam and Epps in Decepticon-controlled Chicago, and in the subsequent battle defeated many Decepticons. Ratchet defiantly put up a fight as he was forced to the ground at gunpoint with Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Dino and Que when they were captured.

The Decepticons began executing them, starting with Que, but when Wheelie and Brains caused a distraction, and the battle was renewed. Ratchet opened fire on Soundwave in attempt to help Bumblebee but was unfortunately pushed away by his sonic cannon, but that didn't stop him from taking down more Decepticons.

He helped his leader and fellow Autobots take on Sentinel Prime himself, but even all of their combined strength could not defeat Sentinel. After the Autobots defeated the last of the Decepticons, Ratchet shot at the Control Pillar to help destroy it, and it took Cybertron with it.

Eventually, Optimus defeated Sentinel, saving Earth, and Ratchet commended Bumblebee on his bravery in battle. In the years after the battle of Chicago, public opinion turned against the Autobots. He escaped the ship and attempted to flee in vehicle mode but was forced to transform to robot mode by their attack. He tried to keep running when most of his right leg was blown off.

Ratchet announced that he was injured and protested that he was a medic and an Autobot friend as they boxed him in. When asked why he ran, he revealed Optimus' warning message and that all Autobots were in danger, unaware that he was speaking to the very humans who were hunting them. Savoy revealed that he had lost his sister in the Chicago invasion and that Ratchet would get no sympathy from him. Lockdown, who had been helping to hunt the Autobots, fired on Ratchet from the water and the humans resumed their attack.

Ratchet returned fire, expressing confusion over their actions. He begged for them to stop as he was overwhelmed by their superior firepower.

His gun was destroyed while he was seriously damaged by the attack. They finally held fire as Lockdown approached the greatly weakened Autobot. Lockdown offered to spare his life if he revealed where Optimus Prime was hiding. Ratchet bravely refused to tell where Optimus was and could only weakly resist as Lockdown ripped his spark from his chest, killing him. Ratchet's mutilated body was taken to KSI to be melted down for its raw parts. While infiltrating KSI, Cade Yeager found Ratchet's severed head being melted down, and transmitted images back to Optimus Prime, resulting in the furious Autobot leader ordering an assault on KSI's facility to take revenge for his friend's demise.

The Autobots were however unable to destroy the lab or recover his remains as Joshua Joyce demoralized Optimus, who called a retreat. Ratchet was eventually avenged when Optimus killed Harold Attinger and destroyed Lockdown. Bumblebee [ ] Ratchet is also briefly seen in the film Bumblebee, participating in the battle of Cybertron, alongside Wheeljack , Arcee , Cliffjumper , Brawn and Ironhide.
