Final fantasy 13 should i upgrade weapons
Once there, the weapon can be transformed into the character's ultimate weapon. The levelling path for all weapons lead to similar end points, so which weapon you decide to use is a matter of personal preference.
A weapon will retain its special characteristics even after being upgraded to an ultimate weapon. Her weapon, Apocalypse, slows ATB recovery. Check the weapon chart for more information. We have listed our recommendations down below. The most important things is that you pick a single weapon per character and stick with it.
Upgrading is expensive and there's no sense in wasting resources on two different weapons when they both have the ability to became an omega weapon. It's easier to upgrade later, when you have some more money, but it's not really all that important. The most efficient method is to use enough biological components to get a 3x exp multiplier, then use a large stack of synthetic components to actually level the weapon.
The larger the better, as long as there isn't more exp than the weapon needs to hit max level. If you use small stacks, the exp multiplier goes down each time.
Before chapter 11 or so, you might not really HAVE enough items to easily get the 3x multiplier, or large enough stacks of synthetic materials to be efficient -- and every time you use a stack of synthetics and the multiplier drops, you will want to use even more biological components to build it back up again Still, if you want to upgrade, it's fine, you won't actually miss out on anything, and if you're actually having trouble it will make fights a bit easier.
It'll just take a little more time and effort overall in the long run to get everything fully leveled. Every piece of equipment has a certain "Experience" EXP value and a "Level" which depends on the Experience of the item. In order to upgrade an item, you want to add EXP to it, so it can Level up and become more powerful. This is why if you need to use two units of a certain Inorganic Material to add the desired EXP you should use both of them at once instead of one by one.
If you added them one by one, the first one would lower or reset the EXP Bonus, and the second one wouldn't benefit from the bonus anymore unless you re-applied it with more Organic Materials. At this point, that item can be "promoted" to its higher version by using a specific Catalyst, which depends on the item.
Each item has a particular Catalyst necessary to "promote" upgrade it, and only that Catalyst can be used EXP, on the contrary, can be added with any Material you want.
After upgrading an item to its higher version, the name of the item will change, and it will be possible to upgrade the new item further. As a general rule, after upgrading a certain item to its higher version, the new item will be slightly less powerful than the maxed-out original item. Therefore upgrading an item to its superior version will usually give you a small disadvantage at first, but if you invest more resources into the new piece of equipment obtained after the upgrade you will eventually get a better item.
It's also important that you know that the amount of EXP a certain item can "stock" is limited. The starting EXP and consequentially the starting Level of an item created by upgrading its lower version with a Catalyst is fixed. Therefore, try to always add the minimum EXP you need to reach max level with an item, because all the exceeding amounts will be wasted!
In general, the cheapest way to upgrade an item is by adding a 3x EXP Bonus first, and then use the required Inorganic Materials to take an item to its max level all in one go. I'll be telling you exactly what items you need to use to upgrade your items, so this is just a premise in case you will wonder why sometimes we are not going to apply the 3x EXP Bonus, but a smaller bonus instead.
What's really important to understand is that not all the Materials are equally effective. Since Gil is the main limit of the upgrading process, it's crucial to maximize the EXP-per-Gil rate of your upgrades. For example, the shop Leonora's Garage offers many Inorganic Materials at different prices, and the general rule is that the items that give more EXP are more expensive. This is not necessarily true, and some of these items give more EXP-per-Gil than others. That's quite a big difference.
The higher the value, the better more efficient a material is. Ergo, the Ultracompact Reactor is better. Catalysts are unique and mandatory, and you can't choose which ones you want to use to upgrade a certain item, so there is no "efficiency considerations" to make about them. These three items are equally effective: they all cost 80 Gil each, and with all of them you need 36x units to get a 3x EXP Bonus. All of them are for sale at the shop "Creature Comforts".
For your information, you need 4x of them to get the 1. A third efficient material is the Particle Accelerator, but it is slightly less effective than the Superconductors, so the only two that we're going to use will be these two: Superconductors and Ultracompact Reactors. Even if, as we saw earlier, the Superconductor is less efficient than the Ultracompact Reactor, it's also true that not every item especially the lower-grade Accessories requires big amounts of EXP to be upgraded.
As we explained earlier, the surplus EXP on a maxed-out item is wasted, and therefore if you were to add an Ultracompact Reactor's EXP 60, EXP you would be wasting 50, EXP, and you would have to pay 50, Gil to obtain the same result that you could obtain with 10, Gil by using Superconductors. This is why even if Ultracompact Reactor is more efficient, it's not necessarily the best choice when the EXP to add is small.
Sometimes you'll have to mix things up and use both Materials. Simple concept, but it's important that you grasp it. Please keep in mind that in these first examples I'm ignoring the EXP Bonus; it's just for the sake of making these examples more easy to understand.
Therefore, in the "real case" it's actually more effective to use just Superconductors. Another case that will sometimes occur is when, efficiency-wise, it'll be better to "waste EXP" adding more than it's needed to reach the max level with an Ultracompact Reactor rather than adding the minimum amount of EXP necessary to upgrade the item to max level with Superconductors. Things are not exactly as simple as this, since every piece of equipment has a certain "Rank" sometimes referred-to as "Grade" which determines how effective materials will be when used on it.
In total, there are eleven different Ranks, which have been traditionally named from Rank A to Rank K sometimes people use a numerical nomenclature; Rank 1 corresponds to Rank A, Rank 5 to Rank E, and so on. The Rank of an item cannot be seen directly, but can be deducted from the EXP that the item receives from a certain Material.
The Rank of an item tends to be worse A is better, K is worse if the item is better. Wurtzite Bangle is Rank J. Thankfully for the simplicity of calculations, an Inorganic Material that is good with a Rank will still be good with another Rank; just less effective, but still efficient compared to the other materials. With these two, this weapon is one of the best ones in the game. Hope is probably the strongest mage in the whole team. If players are looking to max out his Magic power , the Hawkeye weapon is the best as it has the highest magic stat.
It will decrease any magic damage Hope receives depending on the level the weapon is. This weapon is also a good choice for Hope. It also increases his Magic power , but not as much as the Hawkeye weapon. Sazh has some of the best spells as a Synergist, such as Haste. These pistols will increase the duration of offensive buffs. Since most of his spells are offensive, this weapon would greatly benefit him and the party.
These weapons will increase damage and have the Chain Bonus Boost ability.
